Bone Double Manaia Necklace

This beautiful expertly hand-carved pendant is a large statement piece that has been crafted from beef cattle bone. The carving depicts two Manaia's, a traditional Māori symbol, which is believed to protect the wearer from evil and bring good luck, a guardian. The Manaia is also believed to be a messenger that moves freely between the spirit realm and the human world. This mythological creature, is greatly respected in Māori culture and is a predominant motif in bone, wood and greenstone carvings.

This carving is supplied on a braided cord with slip knots so that you can adjust the height at which it hangs. Each piece is individually carved so slight variations can occur. Supplied loose in a cellophane bag.
